Prague/Praha!

So after our exams, I went to Prague in the Czech Republic!  The Czech were communists until 1989, and "it was a good ten years later that the party pooper Czech (01/04/2004) joined the European Union."  Even though it's been 20 years,, I still got a communist feeling here and there.  Everything was more or less relatively cheap there, but you had to pay for everything, including a slice of lemon for your soda. // Alors, après les examens, je suis allée à Prague, en République tchèque! Les Tchèques étaient communistes jusqu’à 1989, et il s’est passé un bon dix ans avant que le trouble-fête, la République tchèque, n’ait rejoint l’UE. Bien que vingt années soient passées, on sent toujours un peu l'influence du communisme par-ci par-à. Tout était plus ou moins bon marché là-bas, mais il faut tout payer, même la rondelle de citron dans votre coca.

Of course weather.com told me that it was going to rain and the weather was going to suck during the three days that I was going to be there, but fortunately, it was only sucky weather for part of the first day, and the last night, after we took our umbrellas out of our bags. //  Bien sûr, weather.com annonçait qu’il allait pleuvoir et faire moche pendant les trois jours qu’on allait y rester, mais heureusement, il n'a fait moche qu'une partie du premier jour et la dernière nuit, après qu'on a enlevé nos parapluies de nos sacs.

Anthony and the 1,000 other tourists.  You don't know how difficult it is to manoeuvre an umbrella until there's way too many of them around you. // Anthony et des milliers d’autres touristes.  On sait pas à quel point c’est difficile de manier un parapluie jusqu'à ce qu’il y en a vachement trop partout. 

The John Lennon wall, which according to wikipedia, was a movement of students who followed "Lennonism", these people were described variously as alcoholics, mentally deranged, sociopathic, and agents of Western capitalism. // Le mûr John Lennon, qui est, selon wikipédia, le mouvement des étudiants qui suivaient le « Lennonisme », ces gens étaient qualifiés d'alcooliques, des malades mentaux, de sociopathes et de symbole du capitalisme occidental.

Anthony and myself with a "trdelnik" (don't ask me how to pronounce it because I seriously have no idea), a typical Czech pastry covered in sugar and nuts. // Anthony et moi avec un « trdelnik » (ne me demandez pas comment on le prononce parce que franchement, je n’ai aucune idée), une pâtisserie typiquement tchèque avec du sucre et des noix.
